CrowdOptic Brings Forth Location-based Media Sharing App
When President Barrack Obama and Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney participated in their final debate in Florida, people were not only watching them, but also what the debate's live audience was watching. The debate's live stream on FORA.tv allowed people to watch the interest of the audience via a new application developed by CrowdOptic, a San Francisco based company.
The location-based media-sharing app enables viewers of live stream to learn how many people there are in the audience and which Presidential candidate was clicked more than the other – it's all about getting to know the interest of the audience. “CrowdOptic technology understands the time and direction smartphones are aimed that we’re translating into a ‘Crowd Focus’ meter,” founder of CrowdOptic, Jon B. Fisher stated. “Won’t it be interesting if more attendees are focused on the Governor for whatever reason or if Mrs. Obama commands the most attention of all?”
This application from CrowdOptic lets smartphone users to share videos and images or even engage in a live chat while attending a same event. This technology used in this app first identifies where the smartphone is pointing at and then links the mobile with others that are pointing towards the same place. When combined together, all smartphones bring about a cluster of content which is then shared as a file amongst themselves and others through social media.
Fisher, in an earlier interview, said, "Before the debates starts, and perhaps right as the candidates take the stage, should be interesting because you should be able to see 1) crowd-sourced content versus being at the mercy of the television broadcast and 2) which candidate is commanding the most interest from the crowd."
This app is considered to very useful in important debates, sporting events, concerts and other crowded places as it brings forth real time information from the crowd.
